Richard R. Vary
Richard
R. Vary graduated cum laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School where he received
an American Jurisprudence Award in Administrative Law. While attending law school,
he was a member of the Michigan Department of State Police and served on the
Department's Emergency Services Team.
Before joiningMasud,
Patterson, Schutter, Peters & Vary, P.C., Dick was the president of a litigation
law firm where he gained his considerable litigation experience
in civil and criminal trials and appeals in both the state and federal
courts, including the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Dick has also
served as an Assistant United States Attorney conducting federal
criminal prosecutions, grand jury investigations and defending civil
suits against federal agencies.
Dick has been an instructor and commentator for Michigan State University,
Labor Education Programs and Medical College, and the Institute of Continuing
Legal Education. Dick has been co-author of Michigan Civil Procedure During
Trial and has authored articles relating to labor and employment law.
Dick is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Labor and Employment
Sections of the Michigan Bar Association and American Bar Association. He is
a member of the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel, Defense Research Institute and
Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan. His State Bar of Michigan activities
have included serving on the committees on civil procedure and medical-legal
problems. He has served as the elected representative assembly member for the
Tenth Judicial Circuit (Saginaw County). He has also served on the Saginaw County
Bar Association Board of Directors and as chairman of the Continuing Legal Education
Committee and co-chairman of the Bench and Bar Committee.
